APPLE AND PEAR CRISP WITH ICE
CREAM
 
4 apples
1-2 pears
2 tbsp. lemon juice
1/4 c. water
Cinnamon
Nutmeg

TOPPING:

1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
3/4 c. flour
1/4 c. butter
Ice cream

Spread 4 cups coarsely chopped, sliced apples and pears into shallow greased 1 1/2 quart baking dish. pour over them the lemon juice mixed with water. Sprinkle generously with cinnamon, lightly with nutmeg. Work together the topping ingredients with fingers or pastry blender until crumbly. Spread over prepared fruit and bake at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes until fruit is tender and crust is lightly browned. Serve warm topped with ice cream. Makes 6 servings.
