2 pkgs. dry yeast
1/2 c. warm water
2 c. whole milk, scalded & cooled to lukewarm
2 tsp. shelled & floured cardamom
3 c. flour
4 egg yolks
1 c. sugar
2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. oil
Flour
1 egg white
Sugar

Cardamom must be pounded or ground fine.

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add warm milk, cardamom and flour. Let rise until light in warm place.

Stir down and beat in 4 egg yolks. When thoroughly mixed beat in sugar and salt. Beat in oil last of all. Add flour, a cup at a time, to make soft dough that will hold it's shape. Knead on floured board.

Let rise in warm place until double in size. Punch down. Form 3 to 4 braided loaves. Place in greased bread pans. Let rise until double. Before baking glaze with 1 egg white, beaten with fork, with equal amount of water. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake about 25 to 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
