FRIED PIES 
Dried apples, or you may use fresh apples
Nutmeg and sugar to flavor to your taste
Short piece of vanilla bean
Pie crust of your favorite recipe

Cook apples with enough water to soften them, the vanilla, nutmeg, and sugar. Roll out enough pie crust to cut 2-3 rounds at a time. On each 6 inch round put a couple of spoonfuls of apple mixture. Fold over into a half round "pocketbook" and close the edges with a fork. Fry in deep fat until golden, then place in pan in medium hot oven about 15 minutes to drain off extra grease.
