GRITS CASSEROLE | |
1 qt. sweet milk 1 stick butter 1 tsp. salt 1 c. regular grits 1/3 c. butter 1/2 c. Gruyere cheese 1/4 c. Parmesan cheese (Swiss Colony cheese & onion is better if available) Bring milk to a boil. Add 1 stick butter and salt. Add grits and cook until thick enough to set. Beat at high speed of electric mixer for 5 minutes. Pour into buttered dish and let set. Melt 1/3 cup butter and pour over; cover top with grated cheese. Bake at 400 degrees until it sizzles and gets set on top about 25 minutes. This freezes well before baking. Is good served with stewed apples and small muffins. |
