SOFT SUGAR COOKIES 
Old favorite family recipe!

1 cup shortening
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup dairy sour cream
6 1/2 cups unsifted all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt

Cream together shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Beat in sour cream. Add flour, 1/2 cup at a time; about halfway through flour add the baking soda and salt.

Chill dough at least 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Roll out dough to about 1/4-inch thickness. cut out with cookie cutters, biscuit cutter, etc...

Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 350°F for about 6 minutes; until set but not brown on bottom.

Cool on wire racks. Should be soft when bitten into.
