MOLDED EASTER EGGS
1 c. sugar
1 tbsp. water
Any plastic egg that opens lengthwise, to be used as a mold

ICING:

2 egg whites
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
1 (1 lb.) box confectioners' sugar

Egg: Knead sugar and water mixed until well blended. Pack as firmly as possible into mold (plastic egg). Place a piece of cardboard over flat side of egg and turn out each half. Let dry 3 hours. Use a spoon to clean inside to make it smooth and "hollow it out" slightly. Tap away a small hole in each half at small end. Dry overnight.

Use white icing to glue halves together after putting jelly beans, tiny silk flowers, etc. in bottom of one half. Icing can be used to hold these in place. Use icing piped around seam and peephole to decorate. Decorate top with icing, candies, etc.

Icing: Beat egg whites, adding tartar then fold in sugar. Add food color as needed to small batches. Leave some white for "gluing". Eggs may also be left solid and decorated.
