SEABROOK BAKED BEANS | |
2 lbs. pea or navy beans 1/2 c. white sugar 1/2 c. brown sugar 1/2 c. molasses 1/4 lb. salt pork or 6 slices bacon 2 lg. onions Soak beans in water, then cook over medium heat until skins pop. Add remaining ingredients and put into bean pot. (You may substitute a small ham for the bacon/pork, if desired. Add more water to fill bean pot to top. Bake at 350 degrees for about 6 hours, but check every hour or so and add water if necessary. These are kind of sweet, but if you like them real sweet, use 2/3 cup of each sweetener instead of 1/2 cup. This is the way most "Brookers" like them! |
