APPLE DEEP DISH PIE | |
Pastry for 9 inch one crust pie 1 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. all purpose flour 1 tsp. ground nutmeg 1 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/4 tsp. salt 12 c. thinly sliced pared apples, about 12 med. 2 tbsp. butter Heat oven to 425 degrees. Prepare pastry as directed except - roll into 10 inch square. Fold in half; cut slits near center. Mix sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt; toss with apples. Turn into ungreased square pan, 9 x 9 x 2 inches. Dot with butter. Cover with crust that has slits cut in it; fold edges under just inside edges of pan. Bake until juice begins to bubble through slits in crust, about 1 hour. Serve warm. 9 servings. |
