ESTHER'S SPICED ENGLISH WALNUTS 
2 c. walnut or pecan halves
1 egg white, beaten with 1 tbsp. water
1/2 c. sugar
1/3 tsp. salt
1/3 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/8 tsp. cloves

After beating egg whites with water, add nuts and stir to coat well. Combine sugar, salt and spices and add to nuts. Stir well so that the sugar clings to the nuts. Butter a jelly roll pan and put nuts on, spreading thinly. Bake in 250 to 275 degree oven for 30 minutes. Stir several times while they bake. Cool and store in tight container.
