STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE 
2 qts. strawberries, sugar to taste
2 c. all-purpose flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 c. plus 1 tbsp. butter
3/4 c. milk
1 pt. whipping cream

Rinse, hull, slice strawberries. Sugar to taste. Sift dry ingredients together twice. Cut in butter. Add milk gradually until soft dough is formed. Turn dough onto lightly floured board. Pat gently, then roll to 3/4 inch thickness and make 12 three inch rounds.

Melt 1 tablespoon butter. Arrange 6 rounds in greased pan. Brush with melted butter. Top each biscuit with another biscuit. Bake in preheated oven for 12- 15 minutes. Cool. Split biscuits and place strawberries over bottom half. Cover with top half, more berries and whipped cream.
