GRANNY'S BREAD PUDDING 
2 c. Pet milk
2 1/2 cans water (using Pet milk can)
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 tbsp. cornstarch
4 eggs, beaten
1/2 French bread (stale or well toasted)
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine milk and water in heavy saucepan, bring to full boil. Meanwhile combine sugar and cornstarch, blending well. Beat eggs, then pour into sugar mixture. Add vanilla. When milk reaches a full boil, pour slowly into egg and sugar mixture, stirring constantly. Crumble toasted French bread into liquid. Add raisins, if desired. May be baked with a meringue, but baking is not necessary.
