GERMAN POTATO SALAD 
6 large potatoes
1/2 lb. bacon (about 8 slices)
1 onion, chopped
1 can beef broth
1/2 can vinegar (use empty beef broth can)
1/2 can water
salt and pepper, to taste
1 tbsp. sugar
1 egg yolk, beaten

Boil potatoes in skins. Cool, peel, cut into 1/4-inch slices and set aside. Cook bacon slices until crisp, remove from pan and set aside. Cook onion in bacon fat until transparent. Add beef broth, vinegar, water, salt, pepper, sugar and stir in egg yolk. Add sliced potatoes. Crumble cooked bacon over the top and serve.
