GARLIC CROUTONS 
8 1/2" thick slices French bread
1 lg. clove garlic, halved
1/4 c. salad oil
1/4 c. butter, softened

Rub both sides of bread slices with the cut clove of garlic. Gradually blend oil into softened butter; spread both sides of bread with oil-butter mixture. Cut bread into 1/2 inch cubes. Spread out on baking sheet. Bake in 300 degree oven for 20-25 minutes or until croutons are dry and crisp. Cool. Store in covered container in refrigerator. To serve, sprinkle over tossed salads. Makes 3 cups croutons.
