CHERRY TWINKLE 
1/2 c. shortening
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 tbsp. grated orange peel
1 tsp. grated lemon peel
1 tsp. lemon juice
1 c. cake flour
1/8 tsp. salt
1 egg white, slightly beaten
1/2 c. nuts, finely chopped
9 cherries, cut in halves

Thoroughly cream shortening and sugar. Add egg yolk, orange and lemon peel and lemon juice. Mix well. Stir in flour and salt. Chill until firm. Mold into balls 1/2 inch in diameter. Dip in whites. Roll in nuts. Place on greased cookie sheet. Press cherry half in center. Bake at 325 degrees 20 to 25 minutes.
