HOT DILL PICKLES 
Cucumbers
Hot pepper
Onions
Sugar
Garlic
Salt
Red pepper
Dill seed
Alum
Vinegar

Put cucumbers in refrigerator overnight. Pack jars. To each jar, add 1 pod hot pepper, 3 sm. onions, 1 teaspoon sugar, 1 clove garlic, 1 tablespoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon red pepper, 1 heaping teaspoon dill seed and 1 grain of alum, the size of a rice grain. Bring to boil 1 cup vinegar and 2 cups water. Pour over cucumbers. Seal. Process in hot water bath 20 minutes.
