HOMEMADE MINCEMEAT CALIFORNIA
STYLE, FRUITED
 
1 1/2 lbs. beef (or 1 lb. venison, 1/2 lb. pork), chopped or ground med.

Cook before mixing with other ingredients.

2 c. water
1/2 c. chopped dates
1/2 c. chopped suet
1 3/4 lbs. apples (tart and crisp)
1/2 lb. seeded raisins
1/2 lb. white raisins or substitute 2 oranges and a little lemon
1 c. jam or marmalade
3/4 c. brown sugar
1 qt. cider or part vinegar
1 tbsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 1/2 tsp. salt

Mix well in large kettle. Bring to a boil, simmer 1 1/2 hours, stirring often. Can be frozen.
