EASY ONION BEEF STEW 
2 lbs. stew meat
1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes
1 bay leaf
1/4 tsp. thyme
1 lg. sliced onion
4 peeled carrots, cut into 3" lengths
1 c. red wine, coffee or beer

Put in casserole with cover or Dutch oven. Bake at 275 degrees for 5 hours. Put in peeled potatoes, if desired, 1 hour before serving. 6 to 8 servings.
