GRANDMA'S CANNING SYRUP 
2 c. water
3 c. sugar

Let come to a boil and put fruit in and cook until tender.

Light syrup: 1 cup sugar and 4 cups water.

Medium syrup: 1 cup sugar and 2 cups water.

Heavy syrup: 1 cup sugar to 1 cup water or 3/4 cup water.
