APPLE CIDER NOG | |
Preparation time: 10 minutes. Serves: 4. 2 eggs 1/4 c. sugar 1 c. apple cider 1/4 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. cinnamon 1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg 3 c. milk, boiling hot or chilled Whipped cream & extra nutmeg, for garnish 1. In bowl, beat eggs and sugar until light and fluffy. Add apple cider, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg. 2. If serving hot, whisk egg mixture into hot milk. Heat, stirring constantly, until mixture simmers (do not boil). Pour immediatley into heated mugs. Top with whipped cream and a dash of nutmeg. 3. If serving cold, whisk egg mixture into chilled milk. Serve in chilled glasses, garnished with whipped cream and nutmeg. Good served with: Pastries or cookies. Also ideal for holiday parties, either spiked or unspiked. Recipe may be halved or doubled. TIPS: To make ahead, if serving chilled, pour into pitcher, cover and refrigerate. If serving hot, prepare egg mixture, cover and refrigrate. When ready to serve, pour milk into saucepan, heat to simmering, then whisk in egg mixture. |
