THE BEST FRESH APPLE CAKE YOU'VE
EVER HAD
 
Cake:

1 1/4 c. vegetable oil
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1 c. chopped nuts
3 c. peeled, chopped apples

Cream oil and sugar. Add eggs one at a time and beat well. Gradually add flour, salt, baking soda, and baking powder. Blend well then add apples, nuts and vanilla. Pour into greased and floured 9x13-inch pan.

Bake at 350°F for 1 hour.

Topping:

1/2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
3-4 tbsp. flour
1 c. water
1/4 c. (1/2 stick) butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Cook the sugars, flour and water until clear. Add the butter and vanilla. Pour over warm cake.
