BISCOTTI 
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. Crisco
3 eggs
3 tsp. baking powder
1 1/2 tsp. anise flavoring
2-3 c. flour
1/2 c. milk

Cream together sugar and Crisco. Add eggs and anise. Mix well. Add baking powder and 1 cup of the flour. Mix well and gradually add rest of flour. Blend until heavy and knead until not sticky. Break off a good piece and roll between hands to stretch to 6 inches (maybe like the length of 4 or 5 Italian sausages). Put these rolls on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes. Cool well, ice and cut at slant. Can be returned to oven to toast if desired.

ICING:

1 1/2 tbsp. milk
1/2 tsp. anise flavoring
1/2 c. confectioners' sugar
