HUNGARIAN PLUM CAKE 
1 c. flour
1/4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. plus 1 c. plus 2 tbsp. sugar
1/3 c. sweet butter, softened, plus 3 tbsp. melted
3 egg yolks
2 1/2 tsp. cold water
1 c. fresh fine bread crumbs
5 c. (about 10) fresh blue plums, pitted and quartered vertically
2 tbsp. heavy cream

Sift flour with baking soda, salt, and 1 teaspoon of sugar. Cut in 1/3 cup butter. Make a well in the center of mixture and beat in 1 egg yolk and the water. Turn onto a floured surface and knead for 2 minutes. Chill for 1 hour. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9x13 inch pan.

Roll out dough to a 1/8 inch thickness. Place in pan and press with fingers to fit all sides and corners. Sprinkle the dough with bread crumbs and drizzle on the melted butter. Arrange the plums in rows on top of this and sprinkle them with the cups of sugar. Beat the remaining egg yolks with the 2 tablespoons sugar and heavy cream. Pour this over the sugared plums. Bake for 45 minutes or until cake test done. Cool before serving.
