CHOCOLATE BARS 
DOUGH:

1 c. shortening
2 c. light brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
3 c. rolled oats

FILLING:

1 (12 oz.) bag chocolate chips
1 can sweetened condensed milk
2 tbsp. butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. nuts
2 tsp. vanilla

Cream shortening and sugar. Mix in eggs and vanilla. Sift and add to mixture the flour, baking soda and salt. Stir in rolled oats. Spread 2/3 dough in jelly roll pan. Mix chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, butter, and salt in pan. Heat over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth. Remove from heat and stir in nuts and vanilla. Spread filling over dough. Dot with remaining 1/3 dough. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes.
