FRESH APPLE CAKE 
CAKE:

4 c. diced apples
2 c. white sugar
2 eggs
2 c. sifted flour
3 tsp. baking soda
1 c. chopped nuts

SAUCE:

2/3 c. white sugar
4 tbsp. flour
1/3 c. butter
2 c. water
2 tsp. vanilla
2/3 c. brown sugar

CAKE: Mix sugar and apples. Let stand 45 minutes. Add eggs and beat. Add dry ingredients and mix. Bake for 40 minutes at 350 degrees.

SAUCE: Melt butter. Add water. Mix flour and sugar, then add to above. Before adding flour and sugar, add vanilla. Boil 1 minute. Pour over cake while sauce is hot.
