1 c. granulated sugar
1 c. packed brown sugar
2/3 c. shortening
2/3 c. butter, softened
2 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
2-3/4 c. Gold Medal all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 c. M & M's plain choc. candy
1 c. chopped nuts if desired

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Mix sugars, shortening, butter, vanilla and eggs in large bowl; stir in flour, baking soda and salt. Stir in candies and nuts. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet. Press 3 or 4 additional candies in each cookie desired. Bake until light brown 9 to 11 minutes. Makes about 3 dozen cookies.
