BEST OATMEAL COOKIES 
1 1/2 tsp. Grandma's molasses
1 tbsp. water
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
3/4 c. sugar
1 c. flour
Pinch of salt
3/4 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
Dash of nutmeg
1 c. oatmeal (dry)
1/3 c. raisins
1/3 c. chopped pecans

Blend molasses and water. Melt the shortening and add the egg and sugar; beat well. Next sprinkle the flour and other dry ingredients and mix well again into the molasses and egg mixture. Stir in the oats, raisins, and nuts. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes. Makes 30 or 40 cookies. For more, double the recipe.
