1 tbsp. cornstarch
1 c. milk
2 tbsp. butter
1/4 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. pepper

Mix cornstarch and milk until smooth. Add butter, salt and pepper, stirring constantly. Bring to a boil over medium heat and boil 1 minute. Makes 1 cup.
