WHITE CAKE 
2 sticks butter
2 c. sugar
3 c. cake flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1 c. sweet milk
5 egg whites (6 if eggs are small), stiffly beaten
1 tsp. vanilla

Cream butter and sugar well. Sift flour and baking powder three times. Add flour and milk alternately to creamed butter and sugar, beating well. Add vanilla last to the stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in 2 cake pans or as a sheet cake for 30 minute sin a 350 degree oven. This recipe is over 600 years old and it was given to me by an 85 year old lady.
