CORN BREAD TAMALE PIE 
1 lb. ground beef
1 chopped onion

SAUCE:

14 oz. can crushed tomatoes
1 c. water or stock
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. chili powder or to taste
1 c. drained whole-kernel corn
1/2 c. seeded and chopped green pepper

TOPPING:

1 1/2 c. cornmeal
2 tbsp. flour
2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. baking powder
2 beaten eggs
2/3 c. milk
2 tbsp. vegetable oil

Brown beef and onion in a pan; drain. Add remaining sauce ingredients; simmer for 15 minutes. Preheat oven to 425 degrees. Mix dry topping ingredients. Stir in remaining ingredients. Place meat mixture in a 2-quart casserole and cover with the topping. Bake 20 to 25 minutes or until corn bread is brown.
