BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
8 c. sliced cucumbers
2 c. sliced onions
2 tsp. celery seed
2 tsp. turmeric
1/8 c. salt
2 c. vinegar
3 c. sugar
3 inch sticks cinnamon
4 green peppers or tomatoes, cut sm. pieces
2 carrots, sliced thin or cut in sm. pieces

Soak cucumbers, peppers, onions, and salt one hour (use ice). Drain. Mix other ingredients together; heat thoroughly. Drain vegetables from ice. Put in vinegar mixture, heating thoroughly. Put in jars and seal.
