CHOCOLATE COVERED CHERRY COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. unsweetened cocoa
1/4 tsp. each: salt, baking powder, baking soda
1/2 c. softened butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 jar maraschino cherries (48)

FROSTING:

1 pkg. (6 oz.) chocolate chips
1/2 c. sweetened condensed milk
4 to 5 tsp. cherry juice

1. Stir together flour, cocoa, salt, baking powder, soda. In another bowl mix butter and sugar until fluffy. Then add egg and vanilla to butter and sugar and beat well. Gradually add dry ingredients to butter and sugar mixture.

2. Shape into 1 inch balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Push down the center of each with thumb. Drain cherries and reserve juice. Place a cherry in the center of each ball. Heat oven to 350 degrees.

3. Frosting: Put chocolate chips in milk. Heat in saucepan until chips melt. Stir in 4 to 5 teaspoons cherry juice. If too thick add more.

4. Spoon 1 teaspoon frosting over each cookie. Spread to cover cherry. Bake 10 minutes or until they look done.
