SWEDISH HEIRLOOM COOKIES 
1 c. soft butter
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 c. confectioners' sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/4 c. almonds, ground
2 c. sifted all purpose flour

For decorations:

1/2 c. confectioners' sugar
French's decorets or colored sugar
Candied red and green cherries

Cream butter, vanilla, 1 cup confectioners' sugar and salt. Add ground almonds. Blend in flour. Store mixture overnight in refrigerator. Shape dough into balls or crescents using a rounded teaspoon for each cookie.

Pour decorets on waxed paper. Roll the shaped dough on decorets. Or decorate with red or green cherries (candied).

Bake on ungreased baking sheet at 325 degrees for 15 to 18 minutes. Cookies will not be brown when done.

Roll undecorated cookies in 1/2 cup of confectioners' sugar while warm. Yields about 4 1/2 dozen cookies.
