BREAD PUDDING | |
1 qt. milk (scalded) 3 or 4 eggs, slightly beaten 1/2 to 3/4 c. sugar (taste for sweetness) 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla Butter casserole, break up 3 or 4 slices of bread, sprinkle with raisins. Pour over the custard mixture. Sprinkle the top with nutmeg. Place the casserole of pudding in a pan of very hot water, start in 450 degree oven for 10 minutes, reduce heat to 350 degrees. Test with knife in 50 to 60 minutes. Serve plain or warm with lemon sauce. Lemon juice, sugar, water, cornstarch and butter. |
