OLD FASHION WALNUT BREAD | |
3 c. sifted plain flour 1 c. sugar 4 tsp. baking powder 2 tsp. salt 1 egg, slightly beaten 1/4 c. shortening, melted 1 1/2 c. milk 1 tsp. vanilla 1 1/2 c. chopped walnuts Resift flour with sugar, baking powder and salt. Add egg, milk, shortening and vanilla to dry mixture. Stir just until all flour is moistened. Stir in walnuts. Turn into greased 9 x 5 x 3 loaf pan or divide batter between 2 greased No. 2 1/2 cans. Bake at 350°F about 1 hour and 20 minutes; for rectangular loaf, 1 hour and 10 minutes. |
