MIDNIGHT CHOCOLATE CAKE | |
1 1/2 c. sugar 2 unbeaten eggs 1/2 c. cocoa 1 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. shortening 1 c. boiling water 1 1/2 c. flour 1 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. vanilla Cream sugar and shortening together. Add the eggs and beat until light and fluffy. Add the cocoa dissolved in the hot water; mix well. Sift the flour, soda, baking powder and salt together. Add gradually into the egg mixture. Beat 5 minutes, then add vanilla and mix thoroughly. Bake in well greased and floured 8 x 8 inch pan in moderate oven, 350 degrees for about 45 minutes. The top should spring back when done. Frost with your Favorite Frosting. |
