APPLE CRISP 
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. each nutmeg & cinnamon or use apple pie spice
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 c. (1/2 stick) butter
5 c. sliced tart apples or 1 (21 oz.) can apple pie filling

Mix sugar, flour, spices and salt. Cut in butter until mixture is crumbly. Spread apples over bottom of buttered 8" or 9" square baking pan. Sprinkle crumbly mixture over fruit. Pat lightly with fingers. Bake, uncovered at 350 degrees for 40 to 45 minutes. Serve warm with whipping cream or ice cream. Serves 6 to 8.
