CORNBREAD 
1 1/2 c. cornmeal
1/2 c. flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. sugar
1 1/3 c. sweet milk
1 egg, beaten
1 tbsp. melted butter
Hot water as needed
Extra cornmeal

Combine dry ingredients. Beat milk and egg together. Add to dry ingredients and blend. Stir in milk and butter. Add hot water, slowly until the batter will just drop from a spoon. Grease a 9 inch iron skillet and heat almost to smoking point. Sprinkle with extra cornmeal. Pour on butter. Bake 30 minutes or until golden brown at 375 degrees.
