DATE-ORANGE BREAD 
2/3 c. brown sugar
1/3 c. butter
2 eggs
3/4 c. orange juice
2 tsp. grated orange rind
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. chopped or diced dates
1/2 c. chopped nuts (opt.)

Cream together sugar and butter. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in orange juice and grated rind. Combine flour, baking powder and soda. Add to creamed mixture. Mix well. Fold in dates and pour into greased and floured loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Makes one large loaf.
