1/2 lb. butter
3/4 c. sugar
1 egg yolk
1 3/4 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
Chopped nuts
Egg white

Mix in order given. Put on cookie sheet. (Flatten and spread with the heel of your hand.) The dough will cover the whole sheet if you press it enough. Brush with stiff egg white and chopped nuts. Bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour. Cut into squares immediately.
