LOU'S DEEP DISH APPLE PIE | |
PIE CRUST: Sift then measure: 1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. any baking powder 4 tbsp. shortening 2 tbsp. butter 1/4 c. ice water Mix, roll two crusts. Use a 9 inch pie dish. 5 c. peeled apples, sliced 1 c. sugar 4 tbsp. flour 2 tsp. cinnamon 2 tsp. nutmeg 1 stick butter Take a 9 inch dish, put one pie crust in it then pour all the apples in the dish. Add the cup of sugar in after you sprinkle the 4 tablespoons of flour over the apples. Sprinkle the two teaspoons of cinnamon and the two teaspoons of nutmeg over the apples. Then cut the stick of butter over the apples. Place the second crust on top. Press the edge of the crust with your fingers, or a fork. Place the pie in a 375 degree oven until brown or one hour. Spread a little butter over the top. When brown take it out of the oven. Enjoy hot or cold. Also good with cream or ice cream. |
