BRAN APPLESAUCE MUFFINS 
1 1/4 c. Pillsbury's Best Whole Wheat Flour
3/4 c. shreds of whole bran cereal
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. applesauce
1/2 c. oil or shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
2 eggs
1 tbsp. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon

Heat oven to 400 degrees. Line 12 muffin cups with paper baking cups.

Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. In large bowl, combine all ingredients except 1 tablespoon sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon; mix well. Spoon batter into prepared muffin cups, filling 2/3 full. In small bowl, combine 1 tablespoon sugar and 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon; sprinkle over top of each muffin.

Bake at 400 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Immediately remove from pan. Serve warm. 12 muffins.

TIPS: One half cup raisins, chopped dates or chopped apples can be added to muffin batter, if desired.

To reheat muffins, wrap in foil; heat at 350 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes.

To reheat using a microwave oven, microwave 1 muffin on High for 10 to 20 seconds.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
