ROLLED SUGAR COOKIES 
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 egg
1/4 c. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
Decorative candies
Confectioners' Sugar Icing

In mixer bowl cream together sugar and butter. Add egg, milk and vanilla; beat well. Stir together flour, baking powder and salt. Blend into creamed mixture. Cover; chill 1 hour. Divide dough in half. On lightly floured surface, roll each half to 1/8 inch thickness for thin cookies or 1/4 inch thickness for thick cookies. Cut into desired shapes with cookie cutters. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Decorate, if desired, with sprinkles, etc. before baking (or frost after baking when cooled). Bake at 375 degrees for thin (7-8 minutes) or for thick (10-12 minutes). Makes 3-4 dozen cookies.
