APPLESAUCE - STRAWBERRY CAKE 
1/3 c. butter
1 1/2 c. sugar
3 eggs
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 c. strawberry preserves
1 1/2 c. applesauce
1 c. chopped dates
1/2 c. chopped pecans

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs; beat until fluffy. Add dry ingredients with dates, nuts, applesauce, and preserves. Mix thoroughly and pour into well greased pans. Bake at 325 degrees until done. Spread caramel icing on layers.
