APRICOT BARS 
1 c. flour
1 1/4 c. brown sugar, divided
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. dried apricots, snipped into pieces
1/4 c. brandy or orange juice
1 tbsp. water
1/3 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 lg. eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla or almond extract
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Mix 1 cup flour with 1/4 cup brown sugar. Cut in butter until blended. Press into bottom of greased 8 inch square pan. Bake 15 to 20 minutes at 350 degrees, until edges start to brown. Meanwhile, combine apricots with brandy or orange juice and water. Simmer until liquid is absorbed. Cool.
