NAN'S SWEDISH BUTTER COOKIES 
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. salt
1 c. butter
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
1 unbeaten egg
1 tsp. almond extract

Cream butter and powdered sugar. Sift together flour, soda and cream of tartar. Blend in almond extract and add dry ingredients; mix well. Form into balls flatten with a glass. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes or until very lightly browned.
