GRANDMA'S CHOCOLATE CAKE 
1 c. flour
1 c. sugar
5 level tbsp. Hershey's dark cocoa
1 tsp. baking powder
pinch of salt
1 c. milk
1 egg
3 tbsp. melted butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking soda

Frosting:

1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 box confectioners sugar
1 stick butter

Mix first five ingredients together with spoon; set aside. Add teaspoon baking soda to 1 cup milk by spoon until bubbles form (just a minute or two). Add milk to dry ingredients. Add egg and 3 tablespoons melted butter. Add teaspoon vanilla. Grease and flour 9-inch square pan.

Bake at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes. Test with toothpick or tester or lightly touch cake top; if it pops up, it is done.

Frosting: Beat butter and sugar together. Add egg and vanilla. Mix well. If needed, add drop of milk (just to spread if too thick).

Serves 12 to 16.
