“ITALIAN TO-TO'S” IS IN:

ITALIAN TO-TO'S 
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup strong black coffee
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. fresh orange rind grated
2 cups all purpose flour
3 tbsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp cloves
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
powdered sugar

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Blend together the shortening with the granulated sugar. Beat in the eggs one at a time. Add the coffee and vanilla, blending well.

Sift together the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and cloves. Gradually add the flour mixture to the egg mixture, mixing well. Add the walnuts.

Roll into balls slightly larger than walnut size and place on a greased and floured cookie sheet (or use Pam baking spray).

Bake at 350°F for 25 minutes.

While still warm gently roll into powdered sugar and set aside to cool. Dust with additional powdered sugar, if desired, before serving.

Store in an airtight container.
