FRUIT NUT TORTE 
1 egg
3/4 c. granulated sugar
1 c. fruit cocktail, undrained
1 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. walnuts, chopped
1/4 c. brown sugar
Hot icing

Beat egg, granulated sugar and fruit cocktail. Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt and mix thoroughly. Pour into greased 9 inch cake pan. Combine walnuts and brown sugar. Sprinkle evenly over top of batter. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Pour hot icing over cake as it comes out of oven. Cool. Serve with LeCreme or ice cream. If double recipe, use 9 x 13 inch pan and bake a little longer.

HOT ICING:

3/4 c. sugar
1/2 c. evaporated milk
1/3 c. butter
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Combine sugar, evaporated milk and butter in saucepan. Bring to a boil; boil 3 minutes, stirring. Remove from heat. Add vanilla.

NOTE: If you double cake recipe, then also double the recipe for icing.
