FRESH PEACH COBBLER 
3 c. thinly slices peaches
2 c. sugar
1/2 c. water
2 eggs
2 tbsp. shortening
2 tbsp. milk
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. nutmeg

In saucepan, combine peaches, 1 cup sugar and water. Bring to a boil, stirring frequently; keep hot. Beat egg, 1 cup sugar and shortening until fluffy. Add milk. Stir in flour, baking powder and salt. Spread batter in greased 9"x13" glass dish. Pour hot peaches over all. Bake at 350 to 375 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes until tender. Serve warm with cream or ice cream. Serves 12.

Also makes great apple cobbler. Add 1 teaspoon each of nutmeg and cinnamon to apples in saucepan.
