POOR MAN'S SOUP
1 lb. lean ground beef
4-6 potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
2 to 4 cups milk
1 or 2 onions, chopped
2-3 cups uncooked macaroni
salt and black pepper to taste

In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and drain. Meanwhile, in another large saucepan over high heat, bring the potatoes to a boil, then reduce the heat to medium and cook until just tender, about 15 minutes.

Pour off half the water. Add the browned ground beef to the potatoes and remaining water, along with the desired quantity of milk, the chopped onions, and the uncooked macaroni.

Simmer until macaroni is cooked.
